Emergence of Horus
Emergence of Horus presents the Egyptian deity in luminous turquoise, set against a dense field of large, expressive foliage built from layered greens. Painted at a substantial scale, the composition is driven by sweeping, gestural brushwork that allows the vegetation to feel both structured and alive.
A glowing orange-yellow ground subtly breaks through the greenery, introducing a sense of internal light and heat beneath the surface. Through bold colour contrast and loose painterly handling, Michael O’Neill explores presence, growth and symbolic visibility within a contemporary still life language.
